2010 Catana 85 | 85 ft

A unique catamaran designed by Gilles Vaton and built by Catana Group under Bureau Veritas requirements, the flagship TAINO 85 is a great combination of performance and comfort.

Built in 2010 at Port Pin Rolland, a Catana Group boutique yard in Toulon, France, she only started sailing in 2019 (following a factory refit) due to the original owner’s circumstances, and was used very sparingly from 2019 to 2024. She has been in full use since 2024, as I live aboard full-time in the Med. Never chartered, with a fully transparent private ownership history, she is an EU VAT-paid private vessel.

Innovations
  • Classic Bluewater Performance Design — Features low-freeboard long slim 10:1 hulls, daggerboards, dual helms, and a powerful sail plan for excellent light-wind sailing and heavy-weather handling.

  • Midships Weight Distribution — Heavy components like fuel and water tanks as well as engine rooms are positioned amidships for an exceptionally smooth wave motion both at sea and at anchor.

  • Independent Systems & Redundancy — Fully equipped for long-distance self-sufficiency with duplicated critical systems, dual watermakers, extensive LiFePo4 battery storage, and massive solar power.

  • Hydraulic Tenderlift System — Positioned high to stay secure from waves and designed to carry a large 5.5-meter tender without the slapping motion found on modern catamarans.

  • Boutique Flagship Craftsmanship — Built with high-end materials, skilled labor, and spacious engine rooms, offering the comfort of a luxury home combined with easy management by a small crew.
